Notes for JOHANN PHILIPP AUGUST STORCK:
Johann was keeper of restaurant "Heiligkreuzberg", which he bought in 1859 in Darmstadt. He had been a gardener at "Gewerbeschule" in Darmstadt and in Frankisch-Crumbach for barons von Pretlack. In 1858 barons sold gardens, and Johann Phillip and his father were fired. The Storcks moved to Bessungen near Darmstadt and then to "Heiligkruezberg" restaurant where Johann Philipp died.

Notes for HERMAN CHARLES STORCK:
H. Charles was known in Germany as Philipp Carl Johann Hermann Storck. He came to America at age 18, leaving Germany on October 15, 1869. He lived in New York for a short time before coming to Wisconsin. He came to Slinger, WI (then called Schleisingerville) in 1877, and along with William Hartig purchased the Schleisingerville Brewery from the Lehman Rosenheimer family. H. Charles received his training in Milwaukee working at the Blatz Brewery. H. Charles and his family lived in a house behind the brewery.
