Aboriginal Art 1
Aboriginal Art is probably most
widely seen on the Qantas jet painted with the Wunala (Kangaroo)
Dreaming of the Yanyuwa people. This painted Qantas jet was launched
around 1993 and the design was meant to be temporary. However
the jet is still flying with Wunala Dreaming and another jet painted
Nalanji Dreaming was later added to the fleet.
For years I have been collecting
wearable Aboriginal Art in the form of t-shirts, sweatshirts and
caps. The earliest designs showed traditional Aboriginal bark
paintings but more comtemprary designs are widely available in
a variety of styles. Many designs incorporate Australian animals.
Dots, handprints & footprints are other common motifs.
