May,
the End of Autumn.
Autumn is the time of
brilliant sunsets:
And hay time:
Ettie Delivering Hay
Normally we only need a bit of supplementary hay for
about two months of winter but after the flood, there was more
heavy rain so the ground is still wet.
Neil went out west and loaded over five hundred bales
of hay onto Ettie. All of which had to be unloaded and stacked
in the shed by hand. It took four of us about three hours. We'll
need around two hundred bales for our cows and sell the rest.
The cows thought it was Christmas when Ettie turned
up loaded with hay. There was a stampede over to the shed to check
it out. They were rewarded with the broken bales and the scraps
- a veritable feast.
