Big Lego

Finally, the cattle yards were erected. They arrived all trussed up but were put together like big Lego. The panels stand on the ground and are held together by metal pins so they are easy to rearrange. Just as well becasue almost immediately they had to be reconfigured. Over two thirds of NSW is now drought affected - haven't even seen a cloud for weeks. With a bale of hay now over $15 and bagged grain just as expensive, I had to change my cow feeding. I had a big bale of silage delivered and it is enclosed by the cattle yard panels. The cows have to put their heads through the rails to get at the food. That stops them from pigging it all at once and trampling it into the ground. It is easy for the unhorned cows but slows down the two big pigs, Alice & Brenda.
