The towns are clustered along the coastal fringe east of the Great Dividing Range. Taree, Port Macquarie & Coffs Harbour are the largest towns of the region.

 

From Macksville to the Pacific Ocean.

Macksville lies inland on the Nambucca River. A rail bridge and a traffic bridge cross the river at Macksville. The Pacific Highway runs through Macksville and then along the river to Nambucca Heads.
