GAME 3 VS ROCKWAY

ENON LIONESS DROPS CLOSE ONE TO ROCKWAY 9-8............
A "never say die" Enon Lioness team fought back from an early 7-0 deficit and nearly pulled out a victory before dropping their game to Rockway by a score of 9-8. It was a gallant comeback by the Enon Lioness that fell just short as the tying and winning runs were on base when the last out was made. Hillary S. and Leah G. pitched very effectively for the Lioness to keep the game close, but in the end the Lioness comeback came up just short. The loss drops the Lioness record for the year to 2-1. Some of the game highlights were:

OFFENSE: Erin C. contributed 3 hits including two nicely placed bunts and scored 2 runs, Stacie C. got two hits including a triple, Kelli H. got two hits and a walk and scored 2 runs, and Leah G. scored 2 runs to lead the way.
DEFENSE: Kelli H. had a standout game at shortstop including a diving catch of a shallow pop up and Sarah D. roped in a couple of hot shots at 3rd base. Erin C. caught for the Lioness and made several nice "digs" behind the plate and even tagged a runner out trying to score at home plate!.
PITCHING: Hillary S. started and shut out the Rockway team for the first 2 2/3 innings until some "bad luck" bounces occured in the 3rd inning. Leah G. took over in the third inning and finished out the game with some solid pitching.
