DANIEL,
SON OF SAMUEL -
SON OF RICHARD
Born in Newbury 16 Feb 1679-80;
died at Abington 12 May 1726;
Married first 13 Nov 1699 to Mary Stickney,
who died 7 Mar 1706-7.
He married second - 26 Mar 1707-8, Esther
(Hester) - daughter of Samuel and Esther French
of Salisbury. She was born 22 Sep 1688.
They were admitted to the church 9 May 1712.
They sold (Mar 21, 1707) land in Salisbury
which she had inherited from her grandfather,
Edward French. As his widow Esther sold land Mar 15,
1755. Daniel applied for a sword in Oct 1700.
Daniel Pettengill of Newbury, bought (Nov 3, 1715)
60 acres of land in Abington and Bridgewater,
adjoining that of his brother John,
of Jacob Nash, for F 60. He removed thither;
chosen constable in 1723; was a cooper by trade.

#1 - Akerman - born 30 June 1700, Newbury -
married at North Bridgewater, Sep 17, 1723 to Joanna
(daughter of Samuel and Mary Mitchell Kingman)
born 1701. He married 2nd Mehitable.
He married 3rd at North Bridgewater,
Aug 23, 1749 Widow Deborah (Sprague) Colson.
He married 4th, pub. Nov 20 & Dec 3, 1766, to
Ann Byram of Bridgewater. She was born 1712.
Akerman died in 1770. He had 6 children by his first
marriage.

#2 - Daniel - born Jan 5;
bapt Mar 18, 1704-5 at Newbury.
He married Jan 29, 1727-8 to Abigail Leonard
of Stoughton. She survived him and
married 2nd - Oct 14, 1756 to John Clark.
Daniel was a cordwainer. He had 7 children.

#3 - Mehitable - married at Bridgewater on Oct 18,
1733 to Jonathan Pitcher of Norwich, Conn.

#4 - Mary - born Mar 4; bapt Apr 6, 1707, marr
published at Newbury Apr 8, 1727 to John Sampson.

#5 - a son born Mar 6, 1708-9, died young.

#6 - Esther - born Oct 24, 1712 died unmarried
at Abington on July 19, 1735.

#7 - John - born Feb 4; bapt at Newbury Feb 6,
1714. He died before June 1, 1747.

#8 - Joseph - born at Abington on May 28, 1717.
married at Bridgewater on Feb 25,
1745 to Mary Edson. She
died at Abington on Mar 16, 1746.
He married 2nd at North Bridgewater
on Dec 25, 1746 to Lydia Phillips.
She died Aug 21, 1795. Mary
Edson was probably Mary Sprague,
daughter of Jonathan Sprague and widow of Nathan
Edson, whom she married in 1738. Joseph died
Mar 5, 1777. He had 11 children.

#9 - Benjamin - born Feb 16, 1719-20 at Abington.
He died at Hallowell, Maine in 1796.
He married at North Bridgewater on Apr 30,
1747 to Mary, daughter of Henry and Mary (Allen)
Kingman. Mary was born May 1, 1727
and died June 1, 1751.
Benjamin moved from Easton, Mass to
Hallowell, Maine in 1779. He was 59 years old.
He had two children by his first wife.
Both born at North Easton, Mass.
Mary died at Easton. Benjamin married 2nd
- Mrs. Judith (Castle) Atherton. They had 7 children
all born at North Easton, Mass. the youngest
- Ziba - married Sally Rumbol and had 9 children.
The 4th - Col. John A. Pettengill kept a store
at the corner of Bangor Street and North
Belfast Avenue,
Augusta, Maine. He was a carpenter
by trade - also a selectman.

#10 - Joanna - born Nov 10, 1722 died unmarried at
Abington Feb 18, 1810.

#11 - Sarah - born Feb 23, 1724 - married Jan 9, 1746
to Joseph Bates of Abington.

#12 - Obadiah (twin) born about 1710 at Abington.
Died at Abington Oct 18, 1743.
married at Weymouth on Jan 20, 1731
to Martha Hovey of Weymouth.
Martha, a widow, md 2nd Anthony Pierce
at Bridgewater on March 2, 1748.
Three children born Abington.

#13 - Samuel -(twin) born about 1710 at Abington.
married there Dec 14, 1732
to Martha Jackson. She died at Worthington
on May 31, 1780 - age 67 years,
1 month, and 16 days. Samuel was
a cooper. They had 8 children.
