Least new in 80. Business car until 97 when I felt the need for speed and decided and 86 300-ZX would do the job vrs a "lover"! So, the 240 went to the wife. She loves it as much as I do/did. Runs great, other than normal maint---still goes strong. Ne
top end in fall of 96, found head gasket leak via oil analysis. Been running synthetics for years now, I never change oil, just filters and continue with oil analysis. Engine is at least twice a quiet as the average MBZ diesel. Have been putting small
amount of two-cycle injector oil in fuel for years, still running original injectors! the dealer where I bought it told me about the two cycle oil----it works. It cleans the injectors and really quiets the diesel clatter!
Looking for a clean early 80's 300 model now. 123 is a great machine!

Great 6-cylinder DOHC engine, it's full of power, I should say allmost brutally powerfull !!!
Automatic gearbox is the best part of car, it runs with no truoble after 350000 km, allmost maintanence free.
Only seriously problem I had with air-conditioner. Still today it does not work properly.
One speciffic thing about my car: I have installed gas installation for propan-butan gas, it is very popular in my country, because gas is very cheap (abot 75 german pfenning for 1 liter).
When I drive on propan-butan, engine runs smoother then with gasoline, burns 10% more fuel, and runs 10% slower. In city drive I spend about 15 liters of gas, for 100 km. Engine oil is still "yellow" after 10000 km, that's amazing !!!
Top speed with gasoline power is 205 kmh, and with propan-butan power is 195 kmh.
Complete installation costed about 1200 german marks. (about 600 euros)

Bought her in bad shape. Engine full repair, suspension, tyres, electrical problems etc. I spent US$ 4.000 to buy and another $ 4.000 to fix her.
Now, she is my pride and joy. She drives smooth and easy like new. Now I know why (new) Mercedes are expensive. Love my "Mercy" lyke a daughter. It's a shame they don't build them like they used to.

Singapore has the most expensive cars in the world, I bought the Mercedes because it was cheap (Sing $ 8000) and it could be driven on Singapore raods for another 2.5 years before the "Certifiacte of Entilement {COE}" expired, a replacement COE can cost 1
's of thousands of dollars.
When I bought the car it needed some bodywork restoration and minor mechanical work which was carried out as soon as I bought it. Since then the car has been totally reliable, smooth and powerful. The ease and comfort of driving makes it ideal on the cong
sted Singapore roads and I think it is much classier than the thousands of Japanese "boxes" that dominate the roads here.
I have come to appreciate the car so much that I have just renewed the COE for five years at great expense.

I bought it 2 years ago for daily use. In fact, I'm a Citroën lover (DS, 2CV and Dyane). Not one of the Citroëns are suitable for this purpose (40 000 km/year). When I quit my job 2 years ago and I didn't have a company car anymore, I bought the 200D from

I purchased this car via www.classifieds2000.com two and a half years ago from its former owner in Toronto. I paid $2450(US). I repaired the transmission, the AC and heater, two window lifts, cruise control, and replaced the original Becker radio and sp
akers with a much better system: Phillips 532 AM/FM RDS/SW with MB Quart speakers, and a MacIntosh car amplifier. Other repairs have been routine maintenance. The car had 200,000 KM on it when I purchased it. Now it's just short of 300,000 KM. I drive
frequently between Beckley WV, Pittsburgh, and airports in Columbus and Raleigh Durham. This is my third Mercedes, and I love it. My only gripe is the low power and the dealer network. The local dealer, Lewis Chevrolet, ceased as a MBZ dealer just abou
the time I got the car. They still repair, though. I have found Smith in Charleston WV very friendly, but obscenely expensive for parts and service ($83 p/h). Beck in Charlotte charges 1/3 less for MBZ parts and is equally friendly, but the distance,
00 miles each way, tries the soul and requires motel stays.

This is my second W123 and I bought it for 7000SEK ($800). My previous was a 240D in a very good condition and the origin purpose was to shift
the engines since the 300 runs very nice. However, I sold the 240D and for the moment the 300D has another 10.000 km on the odometer. At the moment I have replaced the rear driveshaft, rear springs (caravan version) and absorbers.
I love the car and the next one will probably bee an 300CDT ($4000-10000) or an mint condition 300D ($1200-4000)
