I'm new to Mercedez, but I have fallen in love with my diesel, I drive an average of 120+/day and this car just keeps going!
I got it about 5 months ago and I've put in about 14K without any major problems. I'm thinking about upgrading the wheels and tires later on.
If anybody can also offer some guidance about replacing the original steering wheel with a smaller aftermarket (low price obviosuly)would be vey much appreciated.
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it, yet.

I`ve had my MB 230 TE almost a year. The model is with original mechanic sun-roof, power-windows in front, five-gear, original hangers/railing at the roof and of course the chrome. In design there havent been made a better-looking stationcar. She runs per
ect, have plenty of space for wife, kids and luggage. I do about 15.000 kilometers a yaer and have had no problems except from a defect on the air-pressure system that runs the central lock.
Preowned cars and especially MBs are expensive in Denmark, but I am sure I have done a fine investment. She will run several years ahead, and I am sure my next car also will be MB - maybe 230 TE again in a 124-body, if I cant find one similar to the one I
have now, with low mileage.

r because it was leaking oil under the front pannel in the driver's seat.

This car has a charmed life for some reason. It suffered a minor accident after 3 months old.
Recently, I brought it in to get it serviced(new
prechambers and a timing chain), the mechanic laughed when he drove it!! It ran better than
the turbo's that leave his shop. After the service, Jack said that's how he remembered them running in 1982 in Germany new.
Jack has serviced the car since 95K. Engine and trans still are running strong. Mechanic suggested coming back in another 100K for the next timing chain=)
I keep up with all the other services.

I bought my car two months ago. Although it is old, it looks very good and the engine runs like a clock.
I had some problems after changing the engine oil. First time I have used Castrol GLX for light and commercial Diesel engines, 15W40. It was running OK when the engine was cold, but when it was very warm, the feeling was that the car was underpowered (I c
uld not reach the maximum speeds in each gear, and the engine was not running smoothly when accelerated). Also, the oil pressure was dropping more than 0.5 bar at idle (it was around 2.3 bar).
I just changed the oil with another: AMPOL's MAX4, 15W50, synthetic (27.95 A$/5litre, less than the MOBIL1 5W50, 50A$/5litre), just yesterday. I could feel the difference even when I first started the engine. I have tested on a trip of 15km, and it seems

I have the feeling that I am driving a car on gas, although it is a Diesel. Plenty af start up when the engine is warm. The pressure still drops about 0.3 bar at idle, although not always. But the car responds very well at acceleration.
I am curious to know what other engine oils other people are using on a W123, 240D.

love on first sight and I bought it right away. It has run more than 357.000 km and is still in an excellent condition. The body colour is petrolmetallic (not seen very often in Germany) with a creme-coloured interior. Not much more than the basic versi
n, but a "touch and feel" of quality and fine engineering I haven't ever seen before. I'm afraid it will be quite difficult for me to change to another manufacturer ever - honestly.

I bought this car from my neighbor for five
hundred bucks, she blew the motor. The interior
being perfect and exterior perfect save for one
dent, and mild engine bay rust. I took it home
and wanted the body but needed an engine, at 15 I
could not fund what MB wanted in parts, so I took
home another neighbors ford '88, 3.0 EFI V6, with
5 speed automatic. machined new mantifolds, a
rebuild on the engine, machined a new drive shaft,
machined new engine and tranny mounts, a lot of
rewiring and I think I have one of the fastest
w123 out there. With about 198 hp on tap and
33mpg, with a top of the line ride, for 18 I cannt
beat it. New bliestiens, clear turn signals and a
million more custom add ons make this truely
unique. Not a word of English on the car, all
original German. All thanks to my great dad.

This is an excellent car! I bought it because my Morris Traveller wasn't big enough for my wife, baby and dog. The MB is!
Everything works although it is a bit heavy on petrol, and a rough idle when cold has been diagnosed as the air slide and warm up regulator.
I travel 150miles daily, five days a week and so far - no problems.

W123 MB's are some of best cars ever made.
My 280E is fully equiped luxury sedan, and in 1981. that was top of the range W123(Automatic TM, AirCondition, wood, velours, ABS!!!, Tempomat, el.sunroof, el. fuel injection,sunproof windows etc...)
Engine is wery powerfull (185HP), and still runs well after 340000 kilometers. Exterior was painted last year with original DB brown metallic paint, and now looks splendid.

My family is the first owner of this car and we always drive gently when the engine is cold. Last named is in original condition (even the cylinder gasket is original). I always maintained the car by myself. Between the service interfalls, I never have to
add oil. This car already saved my life, 10 years ago: a Renault 18 drove with 65 km/h into the drivers' door (45 degrees). I was fine but the car was total loss. The car was repaired again for 6.000 Euro.

I looked at a total of 21 different 123 diesels before I chose this one. It was my favorite color and is in excellent shape. I bought the car from its original owner. The reason he was selling it was because he had purchased a new E300 diesel. I had t
e A/C converted to R134A refrigerant. The air blows just as cold as before. I have had some vacuum work done (that happens with time and age). I am very happy with the car. I get the oil changed on schedule and have the tranny fluid and filter changed
once a year, as well as the brake fluid. I also have my valve adjustment checked once a year as well. My advice to you if you have not owned a Mercedes diesel is to be patient in your search for one and you will be amply rewarded.

I am the second owner of this car. It was owned by a Doctor who lived in the costal town of Warnambool. Apparently when he moved to Melbourne his wife felt the car was too big! So they traded it in on a Honda Accord.
When I bought it had simply been cleaned and serviced. Its the first Mercedes I've owned - if I ever sell it it wont be the last.

I saw this car in a local car yard and fell in love with it straight away. I swapped the dealer for my 93 Suzuki Swift Sedan. I don't know if the kilometres travelled is correct butthe car is in excellent condition both mechanically and bodily. What a
ifference to drive after the Suzuki. It has a solid and safe feel even for a car that is 22 years old. I'm not 100% certain of the service history as it all becomes a little hazy after the 130,000 mark. I think it will be a good project to slowly rturn
to showroom condition. I have joined the MB club in NSW here in Australia and they have assured me that the car will be reliable and easy to maintain. I intend to service the car myself.

I´ve bought this car in 1995 from the first owner. I´ve seen her and I´ve fallen in love. The colour, the leather-interiour, and all the other electrical equipment fit so perfectly together, that there was no way out. She is equipped with leather seats, a
automatic aircondition, a mechanical sun roof, power windows, central lock, and, and, and.
Bad luck for me, that the automatic gearbox broke down a few months later. But since the engine was still in a very good condition I decided, and I did well, to have it replaced.
The car never had any breakdown. The only exception once was, that she didn't start because of a dirty fuel bump after a long and dusty vacation ride from Switzland through France, Italy, Slovenia, croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey to
yria and all the way back (5000 miles).
I'am always trying to keep it in a good shape, because cars like her are not built anymore.
It was quiet a shock when a few weeks ago I had an accident, where the car was hit at the left side. The result was a compületely damaged rear door. But nothing has happened to the persons in the car. Now I have to organize the repairing and hope, that so
n she will be a beaty like before.

tional Westphalia towing package and a self-leveling rear suspension. It's stick with a four speed transmission. The factory color, "metallic cyprus green", also adds to the car's charm. I like to call this color "boogie nights green" b/c it looks like

I bought the car in the summer of ´98 and had previously driven a "Pimp Mobile" (caprice 79). What a completely difference in mileage! The previous owner had it repainted and had all doors + trunk lid and engine hood replaced plus a complete "like new" i
terior installed. My modifications are new stereo with 12 disc changer and white instrument boards. Yeah, its funny with "race look" on a car with 72 hp!
Unfortunately the engine broke down after 20000 km. A piston had broken down and I decided to replace it with a comp-tested 27Kkm 240 engine instead. Now its running very nice with an average
mileage at 7L/100 km (35 mpg) and takes about 0.1L
oil every 1000 km.

Bought this car from some canadians March, 20 1998 with 372K Kms on the odometer, expecting it to have some problems as the miles piled on. To
my amazement, this is a fantastic car, with no problems (except from some oil leak due to the high mileage), as it just turned 400K Kms. I LOVE IT!! solid, dependable, fully loaded with everything electric (and working).
