The sun shone in her golden hair
Her gleaming eyes were seen afar
And I beheld her face so fair
Like thousand jewels glistening
And in my heart a golden star
Arose so bright and there
All precious flowers nigh and far
Stretched out their blossoms flourishing
My heart with joy and wonder sprang
My mourning soul grew glad and bright
And in the trees the robins sang
Among the green leaves shivering
Yet she, my love, could not abide
She turned and far away she ran
I followed her by day and night
And left the flowers withering
If only I could see once more
Her vivid eyes so bright and clear
I'd stay with her for evermore
And in the sunrise shimmering
Her hair would shine again for me
So heavenly just like before
And my soul would again be free
In lovely meadows lingering
