BOOKPLATES IN SWEDEN

In Sweden, as far as known, around 13.000 people this far have let made bookplates for them, or ”exlibris” as they are called in Swedish. The oldest printed one is from 1595 and up to the 18th century bookplates were only a concern in the aristocracy. Around 1900, though, the interest became wider among book collectors, writers, artists and the like.
