November 5, 2000

We are planning to leave, and have a DATE! (Drum roll)...November 14, 2000! That is when the marina fees are up. The Godchild is looking GREAT, and the goods are loaded. Just some loose ends to take care of on shore. Still have to sell the cars and such.

Marilyn My mother held a wedding shower/bon voyage party for us on the 28th of October. We really have some wonderful friends and family. We were showered with loads of great gifts, from black beans to walkie talkies! Thanks to all, with a special salute to dear mom...ya done good.

Even with all the goodies given as gifts, we still had some major shopping to do... the folks at Dollar General and Wal-mart were a little confused... '5 large sticks of pepperoni and 5 large bundles of toilet paper? hmmm'...Then came the part where we had to find room to put it on the boat and inventory it by location on the computer, so we could find it again! We are trying to put a few of each items in our 'pantry' and then the rest of it in deep storage, with one eye on the waterline to keep the boat balanced. We done good. We should have plenty of supplies to get us to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, where we will rethink and restock.

More new shelves The deck got a coat of paint and the bookshelves are up. I scratched my head about how to keep the books on the shelves and decided to bend 1/8 inch brass rod into a long 'screen door' hook. Actually the idea was planted by Frank on 'Erasmus', He has been doing this type of living for 20 years and has been a great help.

Calliope shedding Calliope, our cat, is now aboard and seems to nap as well here as she did in the condo... (she seems to favor Gary's side of the bed ;-) She is not too sure of herself yet but we think she will do just fine. However, the way things are going, she should be bald in a week. That could be a good thing.

We bought a new 3.5 horse Nissan outboard for the dingy, it pushes really well! Gonna need seatbelts? Toni hasn't tried that yet, hmmm, maybe I will be 'busy' that day... Until next time...
