Happy Holidays!

Well, we didn't get the Copper Canyon trip typed into the computer soon enough for a pre-Christmas mailing, so we decided to send out a brief "Merry Christmas" newsletter instead.

With the holiday season people tend to look back at the past year. This year Leslie and I have a lot to look back at -- Christmas '98 in Bahia Magdalena seems like a long, long time ago. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has befriended us, helped us, visited with us, written to us, and took us into their homes while we were visiting the U.S. this last summer. All our friends -- new and long-term -- mean a lot to us. We don't write very often because it's difficult and expensive to use the internet down here; but just because you don't hear from us doesn't mean you aren't in our thoughts.

Parts of Copper Canyon featured ponderosa pines and snow -- it reminded us so much of Eastern Oregon that we felt a melancholy homesickness for the friends we've not seen for many months. But there's still a lot of world to see out here, and we're not ready to come home just yet. We'll continue to write our Newsletters; please continue to write to us and tell us what's going on back in the "real world."

So "Season's Greetings" to everyone who is Politically Correct; "Merry Christmas" to everyone else!

With Love,
       Jay & Leslie
