Heading to Canada! |
Greetings from the Washington Coast October is getting late for heading North off the Oregon/Washington coast. Lows can be deep and unkindly, but the weather Gods are smiling on Kestrel and crew as she heads North. Jay and crew had a perfect run 90 miles down the Columbia from Scappoose to Hammond (at the Mouth of the Columbia). He timed the tides and Kestrel was doing a high of 8.5 over the ground during the early ebb. That's FAST for Kestrel. They anchored overnite in Goble the first night and made Hammond by 4:00pm the next day -- a perfect run down the Columbia. A front moved through and the seas and winds are looking kindly on the little ship Kestrel. The bar crossing was uneventful, which is ALWAYS a good thing and Kestrel is working her way North. She is currently offshore making her way towards the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Kestrel will head for Anacortes Washington where the boat will stay until Jay and Leslie are ready to "Land" in Canada, at which point they will be able to import Kestrel. We look forward to our next adventures up North in Canada.
