MID-CAROLINA IPMS SWAMPFOX NEWSFLASH  August 2005

Our July meeting had 5 members in attendance, which is typical for the summer months. It was great to see Gary and Steve back again. Steve now works days so he should make most of the meetings now.  Treasurer’s was at $1710 I still have a deposit to make.

The Nationals in Atlanta saw seven members of Mid-Carolina/IPMS in attendance John Sherrer, Tony Kelly, Pete Maher, Steve Issacson, Fred Stalbaum, John Helms and myself. There were 3222 models entered and over 700 on the display only tables thus making this the largest Nationals ever! Kudos to all the Atlanta members for a great show and a great time. Next year’s show is in Kansas City.

John Sherrer was also notified that he won a 3rd at the Nationals for his scratchbuilt M-84 Mortar carrier. Due to an error at the time of judging his award was not placed by his model, but he was notified later of his winning. CONGRATULATIONS JOHN!!!!

Chuck Pelle is still in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia and if any of you have time try to stop by and see him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his wife, Nancy for his speedy recovery.

Spartanburg has notified everyone that the contest scheduled for Sept. 24th has been cancelled.

Our website continues to grow and improve. The site address is  www.oocities.org/swamp001 Everyone will need to be featured to keep this site fresh. Concerning the website, we voted to spend the  $50 a year to upgrade space on our website.

People have been asking for the following demos: Weathering of vehicles and aircraft, plastic polishing, Airbrush tips, natural metal finishes, airbrushing. So volunteers are needed.

We want to make sure that our flyers and Sumter’s are up in the local hobby shops. If you notice either club’s missing when you next visit a shop please let me know so they can be replaced. It is very important to let potential members know both clubs are out there.
