MID-CAROLINA IPMS SWAMPFOX NEWSFLASH  April 2002

Our March meeting had 11 members in attendance. We also welcomed two new members, Jimmy Steele and Chris Lamey. Jimmy is predominantly an allied WWII armor modeler but also does wargaming figures and light commercial truck models. Chris does modern armor and Trek models. We are glad to welcome our new members. Welcome Jimmy and Chris!.

Please be sure and visit our website at www.oocities.org/swamp001. We now have had over 11,200 hits.

DUES ARE NOW DUE! If you have not paid your $12 please bring it to the meeting and give it to Randy. Our Account has $1452.00 in it as of the March meeting.

Phil Campbell had to postpone his demo on figure painting due to a hand injury. (Modeler's tip: Make sure your wife tells you that there is Drano in the drain before you put your hand in to try and unclog it!)

Tim Darrah, Tony Abbott, Paul Lovell from Sumter and I went to the Phantom Phlasher's contest in Anniston, Al. on April 6th. This was a very good show. It was well attended, with lots of quality models on display. Kudos to Phil Hale and all the others in the Phlashers for a great show! Several of us were lucky enough to come homw with some trophies. Tim picked up a 3rd for his Airastang conversion, Tony got a 2nd for his P-6E and I got a 1st for my DB605 engined Spitfire and a 2nd for my resin Bf-108. We are also glad to learn that Tim and Tony got back okay as Tim's alternator died and left him in the middle of No Where Georgia.

There will be lots of activity in Columbia soon. The 60th reunion of the Doolittle Raiders will be in town the 16th thru the 20th. Make an effort to attend some of the events as this is probably their last gathering and we want to make sure that they are paid a fitting tribute. It is through the sacrifices of men such as these that we enjoy the freedom we have today. Show up and thank the extraordinary men!
