MID-CAROLINA IPMS SWAMPFOX NEWSFLASH  November 2001

Our October meeting went very well. This coming meeting we will do our usual plastic fondling and discuss our Christmas Party. Also we will be discussing sponsoring some trophies at upcoming contests and the nominations for officer elections.

Our website continues to grow and improve.
The site address is  www.oocities.org/swamp001. Everyone will need to be featured to keep this site fresh. As we approach its 5-month anniversary we are close to 5800 hits. Phil Campbell will be the next featured member.

People have been asking for the following demos:

  • Weathering of vehicles and aircraft
  • plastic polishing,
  • airbrush tips,
  • natural metal finishes,
  • airbrushing.

Volunteers are needed.

A special thank you to Chuck Pelle and John Sherrer for manning the display table at the Curtiss-Wright hanger at Owen’s Field Saturday morning at the Celebrate Freedom Airshow on the weekend of the third of November. The 2 hour display went very well and we were able to pass out flyers for both our club and Sumter’s. We managed to come through it with only a few broken antenna wires. Again a big thanks you to both of these members for helping us to promote the clubs.

The Celebrate Freedom Show was as great as always with over 50 vintage aircraft on display. With three aircraft making their first appearance at the show. Those being an A-26 “Invader” a Yak-9 and The Berlin Airlift Historic Foundation’s C-54. This show gets bigger every year so make sure you get out to it next year.

New items on display for us to drool over were:

  • Finescale Modeler new issue

  • Flypast Magazine new issue

  • New issue of SAMI

  • Aeroplane Monthly new issue

  • New issue of Air Classics

  • Collect-aire FH-1 Phantom in 1/48
