MID-CAROLINA IPMS SWAMPFOX NEWSFLASH September 2001 |
The
catastrophic events of September 11th cannot be allowed to
pass without some commentary:
The time has come to rally around our leaders, our military, our country and our flag. We must put aside our petty bickering and come together as Americans in a unified front. With the terrible resolve that for those who did this, there is no where you can hide, no country you can shelter in where WE will not find you. And when you are found you and those who support and shelter you will feel our righteous wrath and our swift and terrible justice. To those who planned and carried out this heinous act, May your bodies and souls rot forever it the belly of a pig! To the victims, families and rescue personnel our hearts, prayers and thanks go out to you. Remember September 11, 2001 as we remember December 7, 1941 that these dead shall not have died in vain!!!! God Bless America!! We now have a new, professional website designed and maintained by Joye Poole and Randy King. This site allows for much more information and graphics to be displayed. The site address is www.oocities.org/swamp001. This site will now be our permanent web home. It has such features as; Archives, Club History (still under Construction), Club news, Members showcase, Members info, Model gallery, Monty Tuck award page, Meeting info, Upcoming events, past events, reference gallery, modeler’s resources and links to over 150 model related sites. As of 9/20/01 it had 3426 hits. We also made Randy and Joye the official club webmasters. People have been asking for the following demos:

We appointed Phil Campbell as the chapter historian at the last meeting and are sure he will do a good job for us. We also voted to sponsor two trophy packages at the Spartanburg Scale modelers contest on Sept. 29th. They have always sponsored a package or two at our joint contest with Sumter so we were only too happy to return the favor. An honorary membership was also bestowed upon our new Webmaster Joye Poole. We had a demo on working with resin kits and parts by myself that was well received. On a very happy note we found out that John Helms is a new grandpa! Matthew David Helms 7lbs. 19 ˝ " long son of Amanda and David was born on 8/23/01 at 5:05 PM and John still made our meeting by 8:00PM. Congratulations to John and his family! There is a new policy from IPMS/USA on the display of entries at contests with graphic sexual themes and other "disturbing" themes. A copy of the policy will be brought to the meeting and we will discuss it there. We are working on doing a display at the Forest Acres City Festival and it is possible that Sumter will join us in this display. I am waiting for more information from the festival’s director. We will discuss this more at the meeting. Completed kits and in progress items were:
Here’s a list of the upcoming contests:
The ones marked with an * are the ones members of our club and Sumter are planning to attend. If interested in joining us talk to Hub. There are still a few magazines left from Dr. Morin’s estate. If anyone wants to look through them give me a call. The kit review is postponed for this month due to recent events. Next meeting: Till next time Hub |
