Yesterday
Change comes slow where I was born
and the truth is it still does...
The older people still have dreams
of things the way it was.
A place with fields of cotton,
Just miles of snowy white...
Where the front porch was the place to be,
on a long hot summer night.

A place where people took their time
and tried to do what's right.
Work was hard and days were long,
but people understood...
all that was expected,
was to do the best you could...
at everything you try and do,
with each and every chore.
For when you do the best you can,
then you can do no more.

Where children could and always did...
have prayer in every school.
And they were taught to keep "The Golden Rule."
There always has been "Dreamers"...
and I know that I am one.
To live in dreams of "Yesterday",
when life was much more fun.
