Charging into battle at EK Southern Region War Camp 7-22-2006



Ok, GNEW was hot, but EKSRWC was brutal! Mother Nature decided to give us a good dowsing of rain and then the sun came out. The heat rose in waves over the battlefield and the humidity was so thick you could just about grab it and hold it in your hand!



Our EK fighters were real troopers despite the heat. We should be so proud of them! I know I am. They made charge after charge in the field battles and then after a brief break and hauling around some heavy hay bales, they took to the field once more for the town battle.



There was no respite from the humidity, but after the town battle runs, they went right into unbelted practice. It was uncomfortable just to be hanging around in regular garb. I can't imagine what it was like for them. If that is not heart and dedication to their kingdom, I don't know what is. None of this was for glory or prizes or anything other then getting their game faces on for the real thing... The Pennsic War.



Here's to you, my fine East Kingdom warriors. Not everyone may understand what you go through to get ready to defend our kingdom. But many of us do. And for us, you are our heroes.
