Kangaroo Island
Half the island is named in English and half in French. As Matthew Flinders was mapping the island, Nicholas Baudin the French Navigator was also mapping. They met, exchanged a few glasses of wine and exchanged maps - little realising that both their countries were at war with each other at the time. (The actual meeting was at Encounter Bay, within the waters of Victor Harbor on the Southern Coast of South Australia - see further links and updates on this picturesque area.)
Kangaroo Island, bigger than Singapore but with a population of only a few thousand, is the "natural wilderness" we all search for.
Some of the wonderful places to visit:
Remarkable Rocks
Emu Bay
Seal Bay
Conservation Park
Kelly's Caves
American River (have a beer for Swanny at the Pub, please)
