The initiation of the Pollywogs and the appeasement of King Neptune was held on 22 January 1944 as USS Swanson DD443 crossed the equator enroute to New Guinea.

The Pollywogs had to form a line to appear in front of King Neptune and hear the charges against them. All the charges were pure fiction, ridiculous, and trumped up. King Neptune always had one verdict and that was guilty... guilty and dump him in the water!!
