Screenshot Tutorial

Making the perfect screen shot is easy, you just have to put a little effort into it. Follow these steps and your screenies will jump off the page.

First set your brightness to 100% and your detail level to high. You always have to remember that just because something looks good on your monitor doesnt mean its going to look good as a jpeg. With the brightness and detail up all the way you'll have maximum picture quality.

Now you're ready to start taking some screen shots. When you're in a game, either online or LAN, there are a number of ways to get different kinds of screenshots. Turning on your flashlight will brighten up characters and bring out image detail. Crouching over a fallen character zooms in the view and improves the image. You can also experiment with the lean buttons for a tilted angle. If you brought a gun with a scope, you can zoom in for a close-up!

Most people hit print screen to take a screen shot. Swat 3 automatically makes a bmp of the image in your Swat 3 directory. I've found the best way to take a ss is to hit alt + print screen. This captures the window that is currently open instead of the entire screen. Then open up either MS Paint or Photoshop and hit control + v (paste). Your screen shot is now in your photo/paint program. Time for a little touch up.

If you have MS Paint but not photoshop, save the image as a jpeg. This is the best format for the web. For those of you with photoshop, you'll have many more options for improving the ss. In photoshop, first adjust the levels. Then adjust the brightness/contrast. I find increasing the brightness and contrast a little goes a long way. You can also adjust the curves if you want to get it just right. Setting the image size to 640x480 works great for the web. Save the image as a jpeg, level quality 3. If you want to make a thumbnail, export it as a gif at 125x100
