| Gundam 0080 Well, here goes. It's not what you would expect form a gundam series, that is, after seeing 08th MS Team Gundam and Gundam W. It's only 6 episodes long, and not as many battles as you would expect. It's overall more of a short story, about Alfred (a student, who could, much like most of us out there, have better grades..) It all kinda starts with him and his friend tlaking about mobile suits, annoying children. Alfred meets up with Bernie, a Zeon soldier who if any has very little mobile suit combat experience, but still seems to get around all right. That is another good aspect of this series, it's not saying that the Federation is the "good side" all the time, not saying they are bad either, but for once you see the war from a different angle. There is also Alfred's neighbor, a Federation mobile suit pilot names Christy, yeah, two friends, opposing sides, what to do? Anyways it all comes down to the Zeon's mission to destroy the new Gundam that is being harbored on the colony.. well guess what, it's a friggin Gundam vs. a Zaku, who wins? The Gundam.. go figure. Well, come Christmas, some Zeon dude, who much like most Zeon leaders, is being a total-uhhh.. wel you get the point, and says that if the gundam is not destroyed by christmas day, they are gonna nuke the colony. Typical Zeon Soldier, Bernie decides the best thing to do is to run away, and leave his friends to die, well at least he tells Alfred about it and that he should get off the colony. Things eventually change and he decides to try to destroy the Gundam, and who else but Christy is piloting the Gundam. It all comes down to a final battle, the irony is that the Zeons were caught, so Bernie doesn't have to fight, and let's jsut say he never gets the chance to find out. Overall it was good, worth watching, that is, if you are a Gundam fan. Overall, i give the series a 7 out of 10, not bad, but room for change. |
