Chris's Apple Cake
This cake has an extra sauce poured into the cake.

OVEN
Preheat oven to 375°

COOK TIME
1 1/2 hours

PAN
well greased tube or bundt pan

Ingredients:

CAKE:
2 Cups sugar
3 eggs
1 1/4 Cups vegetable oil
1/4 Tsp. salt
1/4 Cup orange juice
3 Cups flour
1 Tsp. baking soda
1 Tsp. cinnamon
1 Tsp. vanilla extract

1 Cup peeled chopped apples
(Granny Smith are best)
1 Cup coconut
1 Cup chopped walnuts

SAUCE
6 Tbsp.butter
1 Cup sugar
1/2 Tsp.baking soda
1/2 Cup milk

Recipe:

CAKE
In a large bowl mix together all but the last three ingredients until they are well combined. Now mix in the last three ingredients so they are distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into a WELL greased tube or bundt pan. Tap the pan lightly on the counter to evenly distribute the batter. Bake for about 1 1/2 hours until it springs back when you gently poke it.

NOTE! Right before you remove the cake from the oven, prepare the coating for the cake.

SAUCE
In a medium saucepan melt butter and stir in all other ingredients. Bring mixture to a rolling boil (will begin to foam and double in size so make sure your pan is large enough to hold twice the amount.)

Right after it foams up like that, pour it over the cake while it is still in the pan, hot right out of the oven or when it is cool - whatever is easier.

Let the cake sit in the pan for one hour before turning it out.
