Drop the Bomb! | Scrye Deck Iss. #61 - Ground Pounders

The bane of any Dark Side deck is the Light Side's Jedi ground-arena characters. Take, for example the Elite Jedi Squad from Attack of the Clones. It has 40 speed, three power and Critical Hit 2. It usually goes first and hist for a lot of damage. There are two ways to get rid of annoyances like that, and they're accessible even to players with limited funds.
The first way is to match or outstrip their speed using such cards as Dark Speed and Pilot Speed. The former is free and grants +30 speed; the latter costs one force and gives +40 speed, but only to space or groud units.
The second way is to bombard the offending unit. Death Star and Trade Federation Battleship give you eight and four power for bombarding, respectively. Imperial Star Destroyer has Bombard 3, and Suppressing Fire gives a bonus of +4 to a bombardment attack.
With the expensive bombardment units, you need cheaper units to have a space advantage. TIE Fighter DS-556 costs three build points for 50 speed and Critical Hit 2. With Surge of Power, the TIE has a power of four and becomes capable of dealing at least three damage. No Dark Side space fleet is complete without Vader's TIE Fighter and TIE Fighter Squad. The former has Accuracy 1, 50 speed, and three power; thelatter has Intercept and can protect any space unit.
The ground arena is mainly composed of Stormtroopers. They're weak, but most have the Stun ability, and the Stormtrooper Commander adds one to their power. Juggernaut will assist in giving you the necessary edge until your space support kicks in, and Return to Spaceport will help hold the ground arena, as it removes four damage from a ground unit.
You have good units in the character arena. Destroyer Droid, P Series can enhance either its speed or power by +20 or +2, respectively. With his Stun 3, Stormtrooper DV-692 a worthy unit, and Grand Moff Tarkin will assist in holding down the character arena. But the true powerhouse of all your characters is Darth Vader. His game text allows for either +2 power or Evade 3, and he'll help keep the Stormtrooper Commander around with his Intercept ability.
If you feel like stealing some Light force points, take out some copies of Dark Speed and put in Capture Obi-Wan or Dark Rendevous. Jango Fett (D) is easy to obtain if you want to take out some troopers. If you don't have the Death Star or another card such as Victory Class Star Destroyer, more copies of the Trade Federation Battleship can be found in the two-player game.
