Strategy Tips for WotC's Star Wars: TCG:
These are the Tips and Strategies that we have at the moment. We will keep posting as we come across any. So keep tuning in because we are constantly updating this section.
- Deck Size: Try and keep your deck size to the minimum of 60 cards. There is no limit and there are many players who do go over the 60 card size. The more cards you put into a deck the longer it may take you to get that certain card you are looking for.
- Setup: During setup a player must figure out which units to deploy. A good way to start off is with low build units. Get your little guys in there and swarm the opponent in case he/she brings out a larger unit. Smaller units tend to be faster and will attack first so with a quick swarm you may get in some good hits before bringing out one of your own large units to finish the job.
- Building Units: When building units its always a good thing to have more than one. Even if your building a large unit. Patience is key here. Distributing your build points accordingly will help you when you need it most. When building units, keep an eye on all arenas to see where you will be needing reinforcements and how long you think units will last in the arena. Put 2 or 3 build points out of 4 on a large unit and 1 on a small unit. Or divide those 4 between a large unit and a medium unit. When the time comes, you will be able to get some good ones out.
- Control: It's always good to go into a game knowing that at one point your going to have to concede an arena. When you see that one arena has become to powerful to control than do not waste build points or force trying to keep it up. Retreat any units you may have and slowly build some units for that arena concentrating more on the others, for now. Controlling all arenas is possible, but may prove difficult, timely and costly.
- Attacks: Concentrate attacks on units that may hinder your plan first, even if they are slower and weaker. If units like this are not taken care of immediately they will continue to damage you little by little. Unless you outnumber units with Evade, do not really concentrate too much on them. Attacking them to use up force may be a good idea, but you may be wasting a good attack. Unless the unit you are attacking with has a high power, remove smaller and weaker units first or units that can damage your strategy.
- Defense: Sometimes a unit takes only one hit and you have to ask yourself, "Is it worth using Pilot's Dodge or Hero's Dodge or Evade?" Well, if the unit taking the hit has a high health don't waste your time with the prevention. Let one or two hits slip. If the unit is essential to your strategy protect it as much as you can, but do not concentrate solely on that unit. For units with Evade, do the same. If the unit has a high health, don't bother wasting 2 or 3 force on the Evade or Hero's Dodge. Also, make sure that the Evade or prevention card IS going to save your unit. Do not use it if your unit is still going to take damage and than be discarded. Think before you use the card or ability.
- Deck Building: Do not center your deck on one or two units. Use multiple strategies to keep your opponent thinking. Also, think about the strategy that you are going to use. If you use primarily Jedi, than remember to include cards that give you force back as you will need them for abilities and Battle Cards. Centering your deck on one or two units can really damage your strategy if those units get discarded before your strategy comes to full bloom. Having multiple strategies in one deck will keep your opponent thinking and will be useful as back ups in case one strategy is damaged.
