Cemetery in Autumn
Golden
leaves float down
Caught by the October breeze
Autumn chill
Dead souls on the wind
Lonely
footsteps through a quiet garden
In the middle of the night
Monuments on either side
Long surpassed by glory
And in the
lonely soldiers line
White faces in military form
Flowers lain at the door
Flags for their memorial
Well-worn
paths with sodden followers
Carried to their deep farewell
Dead tears to christen fresh soil
On the sacred christian ground
Broken
wings by shattered cathedrals
Colored glass arranged on the floor
Pews forgotten in the frenzy
Bodies left to rot alone
The
cemetery long forgotten
Autumn leaves blanket duller gray
The hollow voice of empty thrushes
Lingering in my deep solace
