Fire Inside
Water flowed across the
sky
Like fiery molten tears
Dragons soar and fly so high
As legends fable near
The dreams they seem to be as one
And myth becomes so clear
There will come a day
When all is done
A day to end the fear
Again we stand as
Children would
Our backs against the flame
I knew that we never could
Stand tall against the shame
In our minds we all knew
The silence that once came
And yet the hell within us shows
Not so well as the good of those
Who’d risk their lives for a foolish goal?
To fix some consequence
Again I stand before you
I ask such questions
As to why must I go on?
Through this
Again I go unanswered
I question again
Is my voice heard?
The doubt within me grows
Time goes on
The fire continues to burn brightly
Searing our minds and hearts
Scarred by our apathy
And fooled by our conscience
We live on through our personal hell
As ash comes from our shame
Our strengths are brittle in the minds of those
Who still hold strong to claim
The claim of which that all is well
And everything’s the same
If only they would realize
It will never be that way again
Deeds will turn to legend
And legend into fame
The fabled time when all was well
Will never come again
Rough times live on
Even through the pain
As hollow minds and empty hearts
Will never love again
The greatest thing in all the world
Is the fire of our lives.
So I tell you once again
My loves, my life
For fire, although it burns
It needs a sacrifice
To love another the heart must be whole
For part of which is given
To the soul
Do not fear the fire inside
Share it, cherish it
For left to burn wildly
It will sear you from the inside
