Royalty
In the early morning
twilight
I’m standing by your side
But when the river rises
In the darkness of the night
Our haven is now swallowed
Lost in fallen head stones
Shining dull - mid-morning light
I lie upon your grave
Looking for a lover lost
When doubt is that which killed us
A hope that cannot be redeemed
Ruin is what crowned us
The queens are but a slave
A slave to two lives, screaming for release
In her sepulcher she must
lay
Scepter still in hand
Ruling now a land of nothing
Not what she once had
She gave it all up, but for what cost
That cost that she one day would lie alone
Restless, for the one within the grave
Tomb of hearts, tomb of
souls
Reckoned in a silent fight
She drew from love and life
When she thought she’d lost the game
She drew away when the haven was gone
Suitors filed past each day
The saddest of processions
No man had ever seen the
beauty in her eyes
None would ever see the gold shine in her hair
For each day a passing funeral
To the Queens who’ve laid to rest
In the dark and dusty tomb
Scepters still in hand
A joke to those who see it
The flowers at her feet
But there stands the statue
Tall for all to see
Once adorned with roses
Jewels set in her eyes
The lady of our kingdom - forgotten in the grove
She soon faded from memory
And in the ground her soul
lay
Depression as her altar
To resurrect the one within the grave
The Ivy wrapped around her figure
Bound in stone for the length of time
Contribution to her death
The monument above the tomb - virgin queen
And as the Ivy gathered
‘round
Her company in her death
She felt closeness with her kindred
Ever closer, drawing near
A love resurrected in nature
The cycle of a godless world
Two spirits together at last
The queens together
forever
Joined in shadows of silence
The quiet corner of a fading garden
In the silhouette of a church
Reception for the royalty
In the land of lost souls
The forgotten angel in an old cemetery
