Shades of Gray

I would love to paint my world,

In varying shades of gray.

Muted, but yet humble,

In it's simplicity.

Lacking color's vibrancy;

Etched in faded shade.

How simple my life would become

In varying shades of gray.

Missing scarlet, for my anger;

And green, for envy's pride.

To break down life's cruel trauma

In varying shades of gray.

No rainbow of emotion

No swirl of derision

The simple lines and depth there is

In varying shades of gray.

I shall paint the dark things lighter

Till there is no define.

World masked, earth to sky,

In varying shades of gray.
