Apple Coffee Cake


2 cups pared, cored thinly sliced apples
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tablespoons flour
2 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons cinnamon


In a bowl combine brown sugar, 2 Tablespoons flour, butter and cinnamon. In another bowl blend butter with sugar. Beat in egg and milk gradually. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat vigrously. Blend egg mixture and flour mixture. Pour 1/2 the batter into a greased baking pan. Layer with 1/2 apple slices. Sprinkle evenly with 1/2 brown sugar mixture. Top with remaining batter, apples and brown sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
