CORA, CORETTA

CORA, CORETTA and the French form CORINNE are derived from the Greek and mean a maiden. In Hawaiian PULOKU means comely and tender as a virgin and also bright, sparkling as sun or dew. (see also Coleen) The Hawaiianized-English form of CORA is KOLA. This is an especially inappropriate name for a maiden since in native Hawaiian KOLA means rigid, sexually excited, especially in terms of the male anatomy!
