Howie spun Melissa around the dance floor, holding her close as he whispered in her ear, “ I love you.” He kissed her cheek before placing his lips on her mouth, kissing her sweetly. He couldn’t believe that they had finally made it to this day. He gazed into her dark eyes thanking God that he had found someone so beautiful and caring to share the rest of his life with. Although their friends and family surrounded them, it felt as if they were sharing this special moment alone. Melissa’s dreams had finally come true. She had finally promised to spend the rest of her life with the man that she truly loved. “May I cut in?” Nick said tapping Howie on the shoulder. “Sure,” Howie replied. “I get to have her for the rest of my life, so I guess a few minutes won’t hurt.” He said smiling as Nick hugged him. He kissed Melissa tenderly once again and winked at her before walking to the table where Brian was sitting. He passed Kevin and Katrina and AJ and Rhonda on the dance floor, all staring deep into one another’s eyes.
Nick hugged Melissa, bringing her closer into his arms. He was amazed at how beautiful and happy she looked, her hair piled on the top of her head and her beautiful Vera Wang white wedding dress clinging tight to her body until her waist where it flowed out to her feet. “You look amazing” Nick said, holding onto her waist as they swayed to the music. “Thank you Nick, so do you.” She marveled at how happy Nick looked, he was practically glowing. His spiky blond hair and blue eyes accented his black tux, the suit jacket falling just above his knees. “Look at us, we’re so happy it’s ridiculous. Could you ever have imagined that things would have worked out like this?” Nick asked smiling. “I’m so happy they did. I don’t know if I ever thanked you for that night on the beach, when you just listened to me. You’ve been a great friend Nick and I’ll never forget it.” Melissa said, tears of joy beginning to well up in her eyes. “Now girl, don’t cry,” he said kissing her lightly on the cheek. “We are both committed to the men we love for the rest of our lives. And you deserve thanks too, you were there for me and I love you for that, and thanks for letting us celebrate tonight too, we didn’t want to have a formal celebration for our ceremony so this is great.” Nick said, gazing over at Brian who smiled back at him. “Well I’m glad we could share it with you and Brian.” Her hands locked around Nick’s neck, the two danced together feeling grateful for the friendship they shared.
“Look at them, Howie and Melissa, Nick and Brian, I’m so happy for all of them, they’re so in love.” Rhonda said, looking at the couples around the room. She was incredibly happy herself, the past year with AJ developing into an incredible relationship. Their emotional bond had grown and their physical relationship was as hot as ever. She suddenly felt AJ’s tongue and lips on her neck, kissing her sensuously. He moved his mouth up to meet hers, kissing her softly. “Baby I’m so in love with you. Hopefully one day we’ll be dancing at our own wedding.” AJ said lovingly. Rhonda’s heart warmed, every time they even discussed being together for the remainder of their lives she felt butterflies in her stomach. It’s the one thing that she wanted more than anything in life. Yet she was happy with the way things were with them now, and wanted to wait for the right time to commit to him. She pulled him closer with her arms, placing her head on his shoulder and whispered, “I love you too Alex.”
Katrina stared at her wedding ring as she danced with her fiancé Kevin. The diamond sparkled in the light and she could never get enough of looking at the physical symbol of their love. He had just popped the question a few weeks ago and ever since both of them have been hopelessly happy. “I’m so happy for them” Kevin said, stirring Katrina from her daze. She stared back into his beautiful green eyes. “I’m happy that you’ve accepted their love Kevin, it means so much to them to have your support.” Katrina said smiling at her lover. His feelings for her were so strong; he often wondered why he deserved such an amazing and understanding woman. “Do I deserve you?” He said smiling as he kissed her on the lips, letting their tongues dance before he pulled away. Suddenly everyone was interrupted with the sound of Howie’s voice over the microphone. “Attention everyone.”
The music stopped and Melissa and Nick turned their attention, with everyone else, to the small stage at the front of the room. Both of their husbands were standing on the stage holding mikes in their hands, smiling. Nick smiled at Brian and turned back to Melissa. “What are they up to?” Nick asked. Melissa shrugged her shoulders and listened to Howie say “ Would Melissa and Nick please come up here?” As they headed for the stage everyone clapped acknowledging them. “We wanted to do something special to convey the love that we both feel for you” Brian said, smiling at Nick and Melissa. Both Melissa’s and Nick’s hearts filled with excitement and anticipation of what their lovers had planned. The piano began to play and both Nick and Melissa recognized the song. “Howie…” Melissa said choking back tears that were forming in her eyes. He knew that she loved the song he had written for their Black and Blue album and had always wanted him to sing it to her. Howie and Brian both placed their arms around their lovers as Brian started the song. “Remember when we never needed each other, the best of friends like brother and brother, we understood, we’d never be alone.” Nick smiled at the change of lyrics and back at the man that he loved so much. He remembered the days of them just lying on their tour bus, Brian holding him in his arms and calming all of his fears.
“Those days are gone now I want you so much, The night is long and I need your touch, Don’t know what to say, Never meant to feel this way, Don’t wanna be alone tonight” Howie gazed into the Melissa’s eyes, singing with more feeling than he ever had during a song. He remembered the beginning of their relationship when he was taken off guard by his immediate strong feelings for her. He was amazed at how strong their relationship had come. |
