Dr. Derek Ollman, a professor of genetic students and research at the Sun Multitechnical Institute asserted in a heated discussin during a recent symposium, that human cloning is not only a future possibility, but a procedure that could be done with current technology. Ollman said that cell duplication techniques he has perfected in his research into a cure for Huntington's disease have convinced him that adquate public finding of the procedure as the only missing element and that human cloning would have untold benefits in research of genetic disease. Ollman's statements are hotly disputed at the symposium, especially be those who said that many more years of research into the human genetic code would be necessary to find the correct genetic sequence. Although other genetic researchers acknowledge Derek Ollman's genius, they dismiss his speculations about the possibility of human cloning in the near future as both absurd and irresponsable. |
