Katie On September 18, 1998, when I was 30 years old, I suffered a brain aneurysm and a couple TIA's during the nine hour surgery to repair the bleed. Doctors told my parents that I would be a vegetable and would never walk again. Scary news for them because I was the divorced single Mom of two little boys, Danny four and Jake, not yet two. When I woke from the induced coma 12 days later, I was paralyzed on the left side of my body and madder than *$)% After another week in ICU, they transferred me to rehab, where I learned to walk again and from that point on, I was up and running to get out of there. I had let my Ex-Husband care for our sons for nine months until I could care for the boys again on my own. I am now 34, the boys are seven and five and we are remarried with a great extended family, online and off. My new Husband, Mike, is as great as a Husband as my ex was horrible. LOL. We are just getting started breeding Jack Russell Terriers, with our first litter hopefully this summer. (My hobby) We live in Muskegon Michigan, only miles from one of the beautiful Great lakes... Lake Michigan. My Husband and I met through the Digital City Personal ads and discovered we graduated a year apart from different parts of the county. He north, I southwest. We even knew some of the same people! As I start my fourth year on this stroke journey, I plan on continuing to reach out to others with CVA's and or Central pain. To educate, support and learn from anyone who needs it. |
