Regeneration
by deborah gorman

your heart is encumbered with filth
your clothes are as rags
the dirt from your sin
has stained your whole being

you've been blinded for so long
the devil has enthralled you with his
superficial and false gallantry.
yet, your blindfold falls off and you now see.

from your vantage point
you see nothing but turmoil.
in your vain quest for happiness
you've only caused pain.

a cataclysm of the heart;
your soul is flooded with guilt.
you're drowning and can't swim.
you can't save yourself.

then I heard your call to Me.
I lifted you up
washed away the muck and mire
made new your muddled mind.

your sins have been covered by My sacrifice
I now see you as undefiled
go into the world and live for Me.
your new existence has now begun.
