The 17th Ga is
a group of hard-working, dedicated, and friendly people who love to share
their love of history and heritage by providing a hands on and as accurate
as possible demonstration of life in America during the 1860s. The
unit is based out of Columbus, Ga., with a unique blend of members who
reside in all parts of the state of Georgia. The unit holds monthly
meetings, and elections for officers every two years. The adjutant sends
out a newsletter every month to encourage attendance at upcoming events
and to voice members opinions and comments of past events. It participates
in organized Civil War battle reenactments as voted on at the meetings.
In the past 2 years the unit has grown in number and has been very proud
to participate in the battle reenactments of Chickamauga,Ga.; Andersonville,Ga.;
Mobile Bay, Al.; Olustee, Fl.; and Moultrie, Ga., just to name a few.
