| Entwined Family |
| "Sir?" "Yes Birkoff?" Michael answered. "George is here" the young genius announced. "Alright. I'll be right there." Michael laid down the panel that he had been studying and headed up to committee. "Hello Michael" George greeted. "How goes it here at one?" "Well, however we do have a problem that needs to be corrected fairly quick." Michael told him. George raised an eyebrow, "and what is that?" he inquired. "Madeline." George sighed, "Yes she has been a thorn in everyone's side for far too long now." "Yes she has, but it's time to take her down now." Michael told him. When someone attacks my family there are changes that need to be made." George nodded, "Of course. You have found a way to take her out of play?" Michael nodded handing him a folder. "I'm sure you'll find more than enough intel in there to remove her from her position. It is a collection of stunts she has pulled over the years, as well as her latest scheme--luckily it didn't work. There are also statements from everyone in important positions who know her. I've had the liberty of having several other psyche evaluators put their opinions in there as well." Michael explained. George smirked. "Very good. I see you have crossed all the "t's" and dotted all the "I's" George said happily. "Of course." Michael replied. "You wouldn't have it any other way." George nodded. "So how is Nikita and the babies doing?" he asked. "Well enough now. The report is waiting for you but if you would like to see her I'm sure I could arrange it." Michael offered. "Another time perhaps. I'm sure she needs her rest as do the babies." George declined. Michael nodded. "I expect I will hear back from you in a few days after you've reviewed the file?" "Yes. I'll make it priority. This is my most efficient Section right now. I must admit, even when Paul was running it everyone's numbers were not this high and you've done it with less ruthlessness than he did." Michael stood as he escorted George out of Section personally, "thank you." *********** Several days later Nikita was released AMA and went home. Even Michael hadn't been able to stop her. Michael walked in one day a few months later to hear Nikita humming as she did some leg exercises in bed. Nikita smiled as she saw her husband walk into the room. She still couldn't believe they were married now. It had been a small wedding but it had been done in the gardens outside of Section. It had been beautiful. She would treasure that day for the rest of her life. Michael smiled, "What are you listening to?" he asked incredously. "I didn't know you liked country music." "I don't most of the time. There are a few songs I enjoy. This is one of them." she explained as one of the babies decided to kick her at that moment. "And so do they" she explained as her hand went up to soothe the baby's gesture. Michael walked over to her kissing her deeply as his hand replaced hers on her round tummy. His other hand gently caressed her cheek tangling in her pale blonde hair. They both pulled away several moments later to breathe. "I love you Michael" Nikita whispered still entangled in his arms her eyes shining brightly into hers. "J' te ami Kita" he replied. The song drifted into his ears, she must have it on repeat. Her daddy's waiting up until half past 12 when they come sneaking up the walk. He says 'young lady get on up to your room; while me and junior have a talk.' Mamma breaks in, says ;don't lose your temper.' It wasn't very long ago that you were yourself was just a hayseed plowboy who didn't have a row to hoe. Katie looks at Tommie like I still look at you! What's meant to be will always find a way. She's going to marry that boy someday. Michael smiled, "I'm going to have to watch her carefully huh? Chase off all the guys?" "Michael!" Nikita scolded. He grinned. "Especially if she is an incorrigible flirt like her mother." "Ow" he reprimanded her as he got hit in the arm playfully. "What's the matter Michael? Getting soft in your old age?" she taunted playfully. He growled as he pushed her back on the bed softly kissing the stuffing out of her. When he looked at her again he noticed tears on her face. "I'm sorry Kita. Did I hurt you?" he asked softly pain evident in his face. "Oh no Michael!" she laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "It's just that I love you so much and you're still so sweet with me!" "I love you more than anything honey" Michael reassured her. "You know I would give my life to protect you and our babies." Nikita nodded. "Will you hold me while I fall asleep?" she asked. Michael nodded, "always" he sighed as he kissed her forehead. He wrapped his arms around her as she had her back to him. One hand lying protectively on her tummy and one playing with her hair. He knew that calmed her down immediately and made her relax. Within minutes she was asleep. Michael lay there for several hours just watching her sleep. His Angel. His redemption. What would his life be like right now if she wasn't in it? He didn't even want to think about it. That would be one life that would not be worth living, he was sure. |
