| “You wanted to see me?” Nikita asked hoping to piss Ops off further. It did. Ops grimaced sardonically circling her as he would his prey. With she as the mouse and he the hawk. Nikita stood at attention with a blank stare that would challenge Michael’s own her eyes turned downwards in avoidance in giving Ops any feeling at all. “You have a relationship with Michael” Ops stated as a question. “Relationship?” Nikita asked quizzically innocent. “Don’t play games with me Nikita” Ops commanded. “You are not so naïve as to think that we don’t know every detail of every action that you have or will take are you? Because if you are then perhaps you need to go back to training” Ops grinned deviously. Nikita looked up with her blank stare still firmly intact. “No sir.” She replied. “But, which relationship are you referring to? The mentor trainer relationship or the personal friendship component?” Nikita asked. Ops turned his back on her overlooking his regiment as head of section. Nikita was making it clear that she wanted him to think that her and Michael had no relationship. “You will continue this conversation with Madeline tomorrow.” Ops turned back around and faced her. “8am, dismissed” Ops said authoritatively. “Fine” Nikita replied as she walked out of the office zombie like. Nikita exited the stairs from ops office and she walked across Comm towards Michael’s office. Suddenly she remembered the young girl she had seen watching Michael earlier. Watching him…her man…. the love of her life…. Nikita frowned just thinking about it realizing that she was jealous. ‘Damn straight I’m jealous’ Nikita thought to herself. ‘And I have every right to be jealous. Michael and I are soul mates. We belong together. We’ve been through so much together-some of it neither one of us could have gotten through it without the support of the other’ Nikita tried to convince herself; suddenly realizing that this was an insecure feeling that she needed to get rid of immediately. Not realizing that she was still frowning Nikita walked into Michael’s office still feeling that she was being watched but let it pass…for the moment. “What’s wrong?” Michael asked sounding concerned after he’d disabled surveillance. Nikita tried to find a genuine smile for him but failed, “Nothing.” She smiled falsely. She sighed looking like she was in a far away place, “Nothing I can’t handle anyway” she replied. Michael walked around his desk to the front of it to stand in front of Nikita. He gently brought his hand up and gently caressed her cheek. He traced the outline of her cheek down to the gentle curve of her jaw down to the lovely arc of her neck. Nikita closed her eyes and sighed happily…almost purring in satisfaction as she leaned her cheek even further into Michael’s strong and loving hands. “Mi-Michael” she whimpered loving the feel of his hands on her…strong and protective. Michael leaned in and gently teased her lips apart leading them into a mild state of arousal. Nikita began nipping at his lips too as Michael took the tip of his tongue and softly traced the full outline of her lips with his silky smooth tongue. “Tell me Mon Coeur” Michael whispered softly and seductively. I want to help.” Tears started running down Nikita’s face from the tenderness that Michael was showing her. She had not seen, until today, this side of Michael. He was determined to reveal himself to her in pieces. Michael pulled back from her for a moment to look into her eyes seeing everything that she was feeling…happiness…joy…love…desire…comfort… He pulled her roughly back into the strong protective circle of his arms murmuring sweet comforting words letting her know that everything would be ok. He would ensure it. “Michael…” she whispered. Almost as if she was trying to convince herself that he was really here and that this was really happening. “What’s wrong love?” Michael asked getting concerned. It was not like ‘Kita’ to get all emotional and upset like this-especially in section. “Is it something I’ve done?” he asked urgently quickly scanning his memory frantically searching for something…anything that he could have done to have betrayed her as of late but found nothing that he could recall. Michael led her over to his chair behind the desk pulling her into his arms feeling that she just needed to be held and loved right now. He sat down and pulled her onto his lap. Nikita instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck and snuggled into the warmth and strength of his arms. She laid her head in her favorite position…directly over his heart. Listening to its strong and steady beat…beating out its love for her. They sat like that for several moments before Nikita grew restless needing answers. “Michael?” she asked. Michael smoothed the hair back from her neck, “Yes” he whispered softly giving her his undivided attention. Her next question was obviously a very hard one for her to ask. “Do you love me?” she asked. Michael drew her face up off of his chest to look deeply into her ocean blue eyes for several minutes before answering. “You know I do” he replied. “Tell me you love me” Nikita said. Michael looked confused and hurt. “You don’t believe me,” he said as he pushed her off of his lap so that he could stand up and resurrect yet another barrier between them. “No!” Nikita snapped, tears still trailing down her cheeks. “I won’t let you do this. One minute you’re gentle and caring and the next you’re the cold uncaring section op! I can’t take this anymore Michael” she exclaimed as she slumped to the floor the tears pouring out of her eyes now. “I don’t know who I am anymore” she sobbed. Michael felt like his heart was being torn in two, for, she was the other half of his heart…his soul mate. He leaned down and pulled her gently into his arms whispering over and over ‘how could you ask me that? How could you? How can you deliberately hurt me like that?” he asked his emotions overcoming him as well. Suddenly the answer hit Nikita. She had the power to hurt him. She loved him but she could destroy him too. “I’m so sorry Michael” she whispered. “So sorry” she echoed over and over as she clung to him frantically afraid of being left alone once again. They held each other like that for several minutes before Nikita finally got a cramp in her leg and stood up helping Michael up as well. “We need to talk” Nikita whispered sadly. “Oui” Michael said and Nikita still saw terrible hurt in his eyes. “My place? Tonight at 7” Michael asked. A bright smile lit up her face especially for Michael and his eyes lit up at seeing her brightness outshine his darkness. “Yes! I’ll be there,” Nikita said simply as she moved back from him. Grabbing each other’s fingers in a loving goodbye gesture each one knowing that it would seem like an eternity before they saw the other again. And it would be…for both of them…separated they were weak and vulnerable but united they could rule the world if necessary. |
