TIME TO GO
Hugs and kisses amid long goodbyes
Waving the flag a small boy cries
"When will I see my Mommy again?"
"Will she be safe once the war begins?"

"I'll miss you", whispers a tearful wife
While embracing the man she's loved through life
A specialist hands his sweetheart a rose
And gives his daughter a kiss on the nose

It's time to go, to move on out
Above the crowd a little girl shouts,
"Dada! The stars that we see at night,
Will they still shine during the fight?"

Clad in uniform, the color of sand
One lone soldier waves his hand
"Yes, my darling, the stars will shine
Pray for Dada, and I'll be fine"

"Pray for your mother and brother too
And pray for the One watching over you
Pray for the people in the other land
For they too, were formed from God's own hand"

Echoing voices in the rain
Going distant with the soaring plane
Call out:
"Pass the time writing letters and poems
And your faith and love will guide us home"
