Farfinell struggled in the web her wings entangled her strength waneing. Her mission would fail Mostrells would remain ungathered his soul left in peace.A single blood tear fell from her eye staining her cheek. The Erinyes thought back of the centuries the souls she had taken to be tormented by the Darklords,The memory of the sweet seduction of the men warming her slightly,She had been one of the chosen never failing to provide fresh souls for torment. Now she was trapped and helpless for the first time tasteing fear her heart pounding as her mouth dry. Her eyes closed an she awaited her fate a slow lingering death.
The Hunter sniffed the air bow in hand he tracked the deer, each time he thought he had lost it he saw a brief tantalizeing glimpse of its meaty flanks the forest was growing darker no sound echoed to his ears but he could not stop the hunt something drove him on,he stopped spotting the deer ahead in a clearing it didnt move yet suddenly it vanished,In confusion he entered the clearing. And stopped gasping at the vision that met his eyes a winged visage of beauty entangled prehaps dead in a Giant spiders web, slowly he moved so not to be come entangled himself feeling for a pulse, there was thin beating fadeing slowly he feasted his eyes briefly on her ivory perfection then set to work with his dagger slowling cutting her free from the sticky prison. His hands were torn and bleeding but he did not care all that mattered was saveing this exotic winged Beauty.Evantually she was free he laid her on the soft mossy ground trickleing water into her parched lips chaffing her hands to restore the warmth into them.Nothing in his life now he knew had been special and if she left nothing would ever matter again.
Her eyes fluttered open vaguely aware of a hand strokeing her hair and whispering comfortingly. She looked at the man and tried to move he reassured her and made her stay resting regaining her strength Her thoughts raced, this mortal had saved her and now tended to her with patience and concern, she had never bothered before to know the mortals who she seduced and gathered, they were work nothing more nothing less.As the days passed she grew stronger his gentle hands always there to support her if needed. He watched her grow stronger with Joy but also a sense of awaiting doom for she would leave.
The day came that he knew would arrive She was well and ready to leave.she gazed at him and spoke "My name is Farfinell if you ever need me call my name and i shall come to your aid for you saved me and ask no reward".
His heart Lurched in his chest ""Farfinell I can not do that for I wish you to be at my side for eternity for low and simple as I am I love you with my whole heart and being"She stopped looking at the mortal who spoke of love so simply from his heart "What is your name my saviour for always would i wish you safe and well"He lifted his hand and stroked her cheek "I am Mostrell a simp"He was shocked to see the flash of confusion her in normally clear blue eyes. How could it be she had sworn to keep him safe to protect him told him her true name yet the darklords had asked for his soul for him to be taken to the hells forever Lasting torment.
She gazed at him unable to fathom what to do a Mortal and Erinyes a soul in torment yet not delivered to the Darklords. She was causeing him pain. She had had no feelings before no sense of wrong she merely had delivered them and seen no harm in what happened,But this mortal Mostrell was looking at her with such trust and Love She realized she wished to atone for all those others souls that were lost and alone. As she was though she could not provide him with what he sought True love, denied to the Erinyes for it weakens their ability to hunt and seduce for the Darklords.
Each time she went to leave the look in his eyes a shroud of pain halted her and made her linger at his side. Her duty was sacred to her she had sworn to cause him no pain but she did so but not returning his love.Travelling with him seeing the Mortals display Joy and love for each other, and seeing his sadness when she was unable to feel it,made something stir with in her, She tried consoleing him with sweet kisses and embraces but he turned from her in anger.Farfinell heard him at night crying with frustration.
He had her near yet he didnt have her at all how can you touch and hold something that knows no love?.He asked her to go return to her kind return to her life to deliver him to the darklords their torment would be nothing compared to this.
Then they came in the night screaming and howling the Darklords circled feeding on his fear,Farfinell embraced him in the soft folds of her wings shielding him from their blows her wings becomeing shredded and torn .She would not allow him to be harmed she screamed at them for mercy and pity. The attack stopped the darklords looked at Mostrell and Farfinell wry smiles on their faces ... "pity you say "the voices merged hissing like bubbleing lava in a pool of water "here is our pity accept or he suffers for eternity ,You will have your wings cut from you, and a child will be placed in you the child will be ours when it is born. You shall know the anguish of love by then a child grown within you and then taken. It will go to the Dragonspires and sold for profit,AND YOUR LOVERS PRICE"The voices reached fever pitch "He will Know you true love and be content with it but his eyes will never see you again a blind man and a wingless Erinyes,Your names also will be changed for none shall know your past Glory fallen Erinyes banished you will be, Rednar and Velnaine this tale will be told to warn others of true love"
The price was set and met Farfinell lost her wings her name and her heritage,Mostrell lost his sight but they shared a speacial love one born of sacrifice and pain,A child was born a girl they named her Sharinell and in the night she was taken to Dragonspires and they continued their lives blissful in love united in sorrow for the loss of thier precious child. They lived together 40 yrs shareing all sorrows and joys but 40 yrs is so short a time for true love, and Velnaine finally knew the terrible price they had paid when Rednar passed away in her arms.
