Born of Mr. Armogida & Mrs. Pavapootanon in London, UK on September 5, 1983, Angelina J Pavapootanon-Armogida had two older half sisters. Toom, the eldest lived with the family, but Lisa grew up in Alabama, USA, and later on moved to Tennessee to get married. Both sisters were much older than Angel, so it was like being an only child. Angel's mom, Gaby, a creative songwriter inspired her to sing and write songs from a young age. The talent naturally ran in the family, Tony, Angel's dad also had an excellent voice, and both her parents sang to her when she was very young.
By the age of three Angel was already performing in front of an audience. Most children at this age just eat, sleep and cry, but Angel had always been different, at five years old Angel was performing at places like Porchester Town Hall. Song writing came naturally to Angel, at six years of age Angel was already writing and performing her own songs. Rythm was not a problem for Angel, even at a very young age. It was clear she was meant to be a performer.
Angel started Thai Classical Dancing and took to it like a pro when she was only seven. It only took her a year to become a performer of exceptional talent, even her teachers were amazed. By this time Angel had also won first prize in two beauty contests, and later on won another. She was well known in the Thai community as a star and a role model for younger childern.
As Angel grew up, she wanted singing lessons to help improver her vocal skills, but Angel's parents weren't well off. Angel's mom decided she would send Angel to Sylvia Youngs's Theatre School for a year, as that was all she could afford. Unfortunately, all the singing classes at the school were full, so Angel opted for Drama instead, hoping that someone would drop out of one of the singing classes. No one did. Angel wasn't upset, she didn't get her singing lessons, but at least she got something else out of it, and acting was something that Angel could really do.
In primary school, Angel was in the choir. She was very active in and out of school, and regularly helped the teachers at school during lunch breaks and after school. All the teachers at her primary school, St. Francis of Assisi, loved her. She performed many times in school, and the teachers were amazed with her abilities. Angel had always been an exceptional student, never going to school late, always being polite, happy, cheerful and friendly, and always did her work. She was always very popular everywhere she went, Angel had a large group of friends in primary school, but only one or two special friends to share secrets with.
High school, on the other hand, was far different. Angel chose to attend Sacred Heart High, thinking it was the best school for education, and it probably was, but not for Angel. As time went by, Angel found the teachers were not as nice as her old teachers, she had expected them to be different, as her old teachers were way too nice anyway, giving her chocolate, sharing their food... but her new teachers wouldn't even listen to her. Angel thought that high school would be a good opportunity for her to have singing lessons, but everytime she tried to ask someone about it, they just wouldn't listen. The teachers at this school we're mean, horrible, and we're definately not reasonable. Angel found her work wasn't of the standard it should have been, and everything was getting worse.
Of course, Angel was still performing. Even if she was angry, or upset, Angel could always find time for people who appreciated her talents, unlike the teachers at Scared Heart High. Her performing skills were getting better, but her school work was getting worse. Angel found herself not being bothered to do anymore school work because the teachers would never help her when she asked for it, all they would do is shout, and give her detentions for not understanding something that they didn't even explain properly from the beginning. High school was like prison, not only for Angel, but for her friends too. Whenever Angel was in trouble, teachers would ask her, "What do you want to do when you leave school?" and Angel would always reply, "I want to be a singer." The teachers just laughed, they told Angel she'd never make it as a singer, even though they've never heard her sing, or seen her perform. All they did for her the whole time at high school was put her down, and made her feel bad.
It was the beginning of the last year in school, and Angel was prepared for a fresh start. No more getting in trouble, no more getting mad at the teachers for what they had said before, and this year she was going to try her best, she had even told her parents. But for no reason at all, Angel got in trouble on the first day of the new year. She tried to forget about it, but she continued to be in trouble, through no fault of her own, every single day for about two weeks. Angel had had enough, she was going to another school, even though it was only for another year, or less, she couldn't take it anymore. By the end of the month Angel had moved to Sion Manning. It seemed like a nice school, the teachers were definately more friendlier, well, some of them, and the pupils were nice. But, Angel had fallen behind so much from her old school that she had so much work to catch up on, in such little time. After a while, the teachers became horrible to her, they didn't understand what she had been thorough in the past, and Angel started not to go into school as often as she should have.
On January 19, 2000, Angel and her mom recieved news that Angel's dad had died. He was run over by a taxi the night before and had died three hours later in the emergency room. Angel's dad was the most important person in her life, but being the strong person that she is, Angel didn't let it show. She didn't want people to worry about her, some may actually think she wasn't bothered about her dad's death, but she was, more than anyone else. Angel remembered a pearl necklace, that her dad had bought for her when she was seven, which she has never worn before, and wore it on the day of the funeral along with a beautiful black dress which her friend had bought for her some time ago. To her surprisement, alot of Angel's friends attended the funeral service, which gave her more strength and courage to carry on. Penny, Angel's best friend was the most supportive of all friends and family. She had cancelled her exam on the day that they had learned of Tony's death and Penny stayed with Angel.
After the funeral, Angel didn't return to school. Instead she decided to concentrate on her singing career. She knew that her many experiences would take her far, how many people do you know that have performed at places like Porchester Town Hall, The Commonwealth Institute, and The Queen Elizabeth Hall before the age of 10? The death of Angel's dad has made her even more determined to make her dream come true, her dad was one of the only people who believed in her.
