    Be silent. For just a moment. I know you are busy. Reflect on the season: your blessings, giving spirits, the birth of our savior. You may not get everything done that "needs" to be done this month. That's O.K. It will not be a big disastor if your house isn't spotless for company, or your kids get less presents. There are more important things. See if you can remember them this December.

    Holiday Countdowns

    Hopefully a checklist will help you feel less overwhelmed. Let me know if I missed anything.

    Week 1-starting Nov. 24

    Make lists of menus, gifts, card list, and things to do.

    Pick out an advent calendar and wreath. I make an advent chain with the kids. Each link has a different thing to do this holiday season like make cookies with mom and give someone a big hug.

    Get out your decorations. (This takes a day in itself with the decorations in the back of the storage closet).

    Buy presents, preferably during the day. You can see if you can get any presents online that will get there or to you on time.

    Have a holiday craft day with the kids for homemade decorations and cards.

    Exercise and take vitamin C so you don't get rundown.

    Get holiday pictures taken if not done already.

    Start filling out Christmas cards.

    Go over Christmas calendar together.

    Week 2-starting Dec. 1

    Take a long bath one night after Christmas shopping.

    Keep writing out cards.

    Send out of state packages.

    Take a winter walk with the kids, then drink hot cocoa at home.

    Buy film for the camera and tapes for the video camera.

    Bake cookies with the kids and freeze or send.

    Watch a Christmas video together.

    Do something for someone else. Do you have your Stocking Stuffers?

    Week 3-starting Dec. 8

    Mail cards.

    Decorate tree.

    Plan New Years.

    Get clothes ready for Christmas events.

    Go Christmas caroling.

    Make Christmas placecards.

    Buy the unperishable food for get togethers.

    Check travel arrangements.

    Take a neighborhood drive to see the lights.

    Finish up Christmas shopping.

    Set up a wrapping station with paper, bows, tape and scissors. Start wrapping.

    Go to bed early one night.

    Make or find a centerpiece.

    Give holiday tips to babysitter, etc.

    Week 4-starting 15th

    Do any dinner preparations ahead of time that you can.

    Do any last minute baking, wrapping and buying.

    Lay out clothes for church, including shoes.

    Make sure you have enough dishes and seating.

    Clean bathrooms and put out guest towels and soap.

    Relax and enjoy the festivities. You did what you could. Now enjoy your time with family and friends.
