I See You
by Mike MacNabb
Inside my mind,
I see you-
An image of present
In future tense,
A dream caged
In hopeless desire,
Unable to feel the life
It was given.
Inside my room,
I see you-
Existing only in word,
In a language
Only one really knows.
Perpetually forgotten,
Or perhaps never known.
Inside my eyes,
I see you-
An opaque angel,
Spiked with irreverence.
What is it I see?
Or do I see at all?
And can unearthly ears
Hear the words,
Smeared on my lips?
Inside these words,
I see you-
A puzzle,
Begging to be solved,
A star to reach for,
A journey of a thousand miles
Down a road I've never known.
And outside it all,
I see you-
A woman
Of flesh,
And of blood.
A sister in humanity,
With face, name and heart.
This I know to be true,
And yet this I cannot know.
I, forever a slave to intrigue
And the captive of a crippled tongue,
Send out these words,
Wrapped tightlly in the hope,
Or perhaps only the dream,
That one day, you will know.
Gathering of The Days
by Mike MacNabb
Every night,
Swimming in yesterday’s moonlight
Where thoughts ebb in a smoky haze,
The mind free from the stitches
And the gathering of the days.
Facing west before the sunrise
Under the blanket of night,
The heart and soul wandering
From where the mind stays,
And the ragged body
Keeps still where it lays,
As ribbons of smoke
Hold each breath tight,
And the sun is lost in the shadow
Where it plays,
Smelling of decay and sickening delight,
Flaunting all its strength and might
With the swirling power of ancient ways.
