| Technologist: Technologist/technicians are highly skilled professionals possessing the knowledge and training to assist the pathologist in discovering what is wrong (or right) with a patient. Technologist/technicians perform a full range of laboratory test from simple, premarital blood tests to complex tests that detect cancer. Technologists/technicians are also responsible for confirming the accuracy of test results and reporting the findings to the pathologist and other doctors. Sherry Allison, MT:
Becky
Bales, MT, BS Becky came to Clinch Valley
Medical Center’s Laboratory immediately after completing her Bachelor of
Science with Major in Medical Technology at Radford University in 1994.
She began her employment as laboratory generalist until 1997 when she
accepted the duties of Microbiology Section Leader. Vickie Davis, MLT:
Vickie has been employed at
Clinch Valley Medical Center for 13 years.
She began her employment at CVMC as a phlebotomist.
She attended in 1991-93 she attended and was graduated from Wytheville
Community College with Associate Degree of Science with emphasis in “Medical
Laboratory Technician. She is
completing her last semester at ODU/SVCC to obtain her Bachelor of Science with
major in Medical Technology. Belinda Horn, MLT:
Belinda began her employment at this facility in September, 1976 as a Laboratory Aide while still in high school. She continued her education at Southwest Virginia Community College and St. Luke’s Hospital and completed the Clinical Laboratory Technician program. She monitors and reviews quality control on all decentralized testing (i.e., bedside glucose, etc.). She has been trained in all aspects of industrial medicine and is a certified trainer to our staff.Mary Keene, MT, HEW Mary has been employed at this facility for 21 years. She began her employment her senior year of high school as a laboratory aide. She continued her education and was graduated from Wytheville Community College in 1981 with an Associate Degree of Science with emphasis in Medical Laboratory Technician. She is married with two boys who keep her active in school academic and sports activities.Misty McClanahan, MT, BS Misty was given her Bachelor of Science with Major in Medical Technology from Emory and Henry College in 1996. Her day position is now Blood Bank Section and Meditech Leader. Her interest include computers, digital photography and hiking. She happily lives at home with her grandmother and mother. Lynne Sparks, Histology/Cytology:
Lynne began her employment here in 1981 as Unit Clerk under Nursing Service. She transferred to Business Office where her duties included Switchboard Operator. Another transfer in 1984 brought her to the Laboratory where she received training and worked as a phlebotomist. She, being eager to learn new duties, advance to a new area was trained in histology/cytology beginning in 1989. She is now full time in histology and works well with the pathologists in managing the section.
