Country: Canada

Comments:
I am looking for somebody (expert hopefully on Olympic pin), who could give me info on a 1996 Olympic pin that a friend send me in 1991. The pin has "1991 AOC" on the back. The front is the logo of the 1996 Olympic, that was apprently rejected by the IOC. I will try to describe it: it's a big star (five points) with the Olympic colors. One point is black, one point is red...etc. At the tip of each point, it seems as if there is five other little stars, and those stars seems to represent little people jhold ng hands. So the effect is this, when you look at it: it seems as if the big star is encircle. Why was this logo rejected? Who is behind that decision. What does the pin worth? DOes anybody know what I"m talking about..or my description is has rotten has y english?! Thanks for answering me back! Also, on the pin, it's written "1996 Atlanta" From Montreal, Canada

I have really enjoyed reading the comments posted on this forum. It is good to see regular pin swaps going on. I especially like to see information shared so that others can get the sponsor pins. There is nothing like the experience of pin collecting d ring the Olympics. In fact, there is nothing like the Olympics! A huge party that goes on for weeks!! :-) During the Atlanta games, I focused my pin collecting to equestrian pins, NOC's, Italian federations, and bids. I have most of the Altanta equestr ans. I would like to collect the Sydney equestrians. I have many Atlanta sports pins to trade. I'm not after expensive pins, just common pins. If anyone here would like to venture out and collect pins from your favorite sport, PLMK. I'd love to trade BTW, what are Sydney bid pins valued at now?

Comments:
Just a short note regarding some confusion with Ansett Sydney 2000 Aeroplane pin.

This pin is not for sale to general public, it can only be obtained by staff members of Ansett Australia.

Fourteen thousand (14,000) pins were to be made available to staff. However the movement of these pins has not been great.

Therefore on 1st October it was confirmed that only seven thousand (7,000) pins would be made available to staff and reminder would NOT be produced.

Regardless of the movement of the remaining pins that are for sale to staff only.

However Ansett has produced a Silver Rectangle pin which is available to general public at A$10 each.

Subject: Israel / Sydney 2000 NOC pin
Country: Australia

Comments:
There was a lot of talk about the Israel/Sydney 2000 NOC pins, well after all is seems to be legit.

These two pins were made by the pin maker in Israel who makes most of the Israel sporting pins and all the pins for the Israel NOC. One of the well known pin collectors of the world "SID" was in Israel in March and stopped by the NOC office to say hello. hey gave him some old pins from prior games made by the same company. He asked them if they had the 2000 pins as yet as he had a few. They said no. He offered to send them one but they said not to bother as they would be getting their supply shortly. Israel usually puts out more than one style of pins for a games. In Nagano, for example, they had five.

An NOC neither have to use Aminco or any licenced pin manufacturer to make their pins nor need to get permission from other NOCs to use their logo as they are part of the same family.
