Introduction
The reason we have a Jester is to begin the meeting with a little levity so people will relax and be ready to have a good time.
Before the Meeting
- Find out the meeting theme from the Toastmaster.
- Prepare a joke that relates to the meeting theme if you can. If you don't know and/or can't find a joke that coordinates with the theme, choose an unrelated joke.
- Practice your joke so you can tell it without notes, if possible.
During the Meeting
- Present your joke with enthusiasm when called on by the Sergeant at Arms or Toastmaster.
Sample Joke Presentation
Mr. Toastmaster, fellow Toastmasters, and guests:
This is the story of four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. Consequently, it wound up that Nobody told Anybody, so Everybody blamed Somebody.
Mr. Toastmaster.
