First Generation (Db)
This generation begins with the scientific knowledge contained in Dr. Gero. This happens at about the year 750. This generation of androids is lead by the Red Ribbon army, who's general wants to collect all the Dragon Ball's in order to complete his wish. From the 12 known androids from this generation, only A-8 was known in detail. There was also another android called the Metallic Gunzo, who guarded A floor of the Red Ribbon Tower. The known factors of this android (speaking of A-8) are that it has within it programmed feelings, which Gokou wins the trust of, and ends up helping Gokou. A-8 has a name, which is Hatchan. This A-8 had a bomb inside him, which the Red Ribbon army could detonate at any given moment, this made Hatchan obey every command the Red Ribbon army gave to him. As Gokou destroys the Red Ribbon Tower, and escapes with Hatchan, they go over to Professor Frappes cabin to see if he can remove the bomb implanted inside of Hatchan. As they do this, Hatchan is acquainted with a little girl from the town there, and lives there to protect the family, and the village. This generation was a muscular type generation, and no special powers were adapted to the androids.

Second Generation (Dbz)
After Gokou destroyed the whole Red Ribbon Army, Dr. Gero felt a tremendous anger against the little one named Gokou. Due to this, he began to study all of Gokou's moves, to develop the ultimate android who can defeat Gokou, as well as his other Friends. Dr. Gero utilized the technology of a small bug to fly around wherever Gokou was and calculate every strong point and weak point Gokou has. As this happens, Dr. Gero is developing his newest projects, android 13, and 20. As the time went by they all showed up and due to their strength in power, androids 13, 14, and 15 caused Gokou and his friends a tremendous amount of trouble. To fight with Gokou first, Androids 19 and 20 were Developed. Android 20 was actually Dr. Gero himself, who wanted to take on Gokou, and finish him off, for all the trouble he caused him. Android 19 was sort of a body guard for android 20, but still, both of them weren't enough to defeat Gokou and his friends. As Dr. Gero went back to activate androids 17, and 18, they took vengeance over him, so that they wouldn't be de-activated ever again. These two androids were invincible at the time, but were essential later on for cell's perfect transformation.

Third Generation (Dbz)
This is the last generation which appears in the Dbz series. This generation is fully composed of Android 21, better known as Cell. Cell is a very special type of android, because he is composed of cells like humans are. The cells inside of Cells body, are composed of his own, plus the cells of all the Z fighters. This essential factor, gives Cell two important abilities. The first one is the ability to re-construct himself, which is possessed from Picollos cells. The second important factor, is that his power is increased just like the Saiyajin power, once the fighter is dead and brought back to life, or is recovered once extremely close to death. This is the most powerful type of android in the Dbz series. The reason for this, is that the only way, this android can achieve his full strength, is by absorbing androids 17 and 18, which we later does. The only way to stop this android is by fighting with in in super saiyajin II form. The one who reaches this state, and eventually destroys him, is Gohan. This generation has all of the powers a saiyajin has, and can increase his strength at will.

Fourth Generation (DBGT)
As the fourth and final generation of the androids begin, this can only be accomplished by Dr. Mu, and Dr. Gero. Both being dead, and having all the time to create a new android, they create one to go to earth and fuse together with the android 17 which is currently down on earth. As both of them fuse together, they formed a new android called the super android 17. With its extreme amounts of power, it fights first with Vegeta, and as well as with the other GT fighters. Finally, Gokou came and began to fight with him. He then transforms into the super saiyajin IV to try and defeat him. What Gokou didn't know is that android 17 can absorb the attacks which are brought upon him. As Gokou realizes this, it is too late, after being severely hit, and close to death. Gokou knows there is only one way to defeat him, and that is by using the Ryuken Bakuhatsu, or better known as the Dragon Punch. As Gokou finishes him off with the Dragon Punch, this marks the end of the android generations and of Dr. Gero and Dr. Mu. This type of generation, proves to have many powers such as the Flash Bomber, and the Jigoku Dama.
