SANFORD
-- The driver of a sport utility vehicle involved in an accident that killed a
Fayetteville man has been charged with second-degree murder, a Highway Patrol
trooper said.
Dale
Reece Hardee was charged July 24 with second-degree murder, drunken driving and
driving left of center, said Trooper Michael Moretz. He was released on $20,000
bond.
Stanley
Zuravel, who was 63, died in the wreck. His wife, Roberta Zuravel, was injured.
The
accident happened on July 23 about 8:30 p.m. on N.C. 87 about 2 miles south of
Sanford. The Zuravels were traveling south; Hardee was driving north.
According
the Highway Patrol, Hardee’s sport utility vehicle crossed the center line and
collided with the Zuravels’ car.
Hardee
and Roberta Zuravel were taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. They
were treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
Hardee is 29 and lives on the 4100 block of N.C. 87 south of Sanford. Roberta Zuravel is 62. She lives on the 2300 block of Elmhurst Drive in Fayetteville.
